NCDC has cleared the air concerning the rumour making the rounds that it would give Nigerians relief packages
- The centre asked Nigerians to disregard the information as it never said so
- The agency went further to say that its work is to support states in managing outbreaks
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday, May 19, debunked the rumour that it is sharing palliative packages to Nigerians to cushion the hard reality they are facing during this trying time.
NCDC, in a Twitter post with an attached screenshot of the misleading message, said such information is false and should be totally disregarded.
It went further to say that the mandate of the agency is "to support states in preparing, detecting and responding to infectious disease outbreaks".

Meanwhile, earlier reported that three Nigerians have been stranded at Suvarnabhumi airport in Thailand for the past two months as they could not go into the country or travel back as a result of coronavirus lockdown.
The news was made known by Richard Barrow, a Twitter user, who is in Thailand. He said that the Nigerians have been getting support from officials at the airport.
He said that two arrived via an Emirates flight with the hope of going to Laos on Saturday, March 21, while the third one came three days later on Tuesday, March 24 on Etihad airliner.
The reason why they could not go into the country is because they are in transit and do not have a Thailand visa.
In response to the tweet, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission said though everywhere is on lockdown including its mission house in Thailand, it would reach out to the Nigerians.
