- The Red Devils are hoping they can get permission from Shanghai Shenhua to keep him until the end of the season
- The China club is proposing a permanent deal worth around £20m for the retired Super Eagles star or forget about him
Nigerian football star could be heading back to China after both Shanghai Shenhua and Manchester United failed to reach an agreement over his loan extension.
The 30-year-old's initial temporary stay at Old Trafford expires at the end of this month but the Red Devils want to keep the striker until the season is over.

Football action in England has been on suspension since mid-March following the overbreak of deadly coronavirus which has forced the season to be elongated.

According to reports, the EPL is scheduled to return on June 12 after the UK government announced professional sports could resume from the first day of the coming month.

However, United are not interested in making Ighalo's deal permanent as they want to enjoy his services a little more but with less financial commitment.
Having joined them in late January, the former Super Eagles attacker has scored four times and assisted one other goal in eight appearances.
His first brace during the club's 3-0 win over Championship side Derby County in March and has also scored in the Europa League.
SunSport quoting Standard claims United are hoping they can get an extension from his club to play the remaining nine EPL matches left this season.
Meanwhile, Shanghai Shenhua will not listen to any other offer different from the £20 million deal they demanded for the player.
